ABOUT US
Meet Elliot Rosenberg
Founder, Hack My Honeymoon
I’m a travel hacking junkie.
From a young age, I’ve loved immersing myself in new cultures and learning languages.
That led me to launch an alternative travel business in Brazil’s favela communities in 2012 that was featured in Forbes, CNN, and The New York Times. Specifically, to generate significant income for favela families and break negative stereotypes about these communities via cultural immersion, we built the first favela homestay online marketplace (like Airbnb). I even became my own customer, booking a one-way ticket to Rio de Janeiro right after I graduated college to live in Brazil’s largest favela.
Though I was in a stunning place, I soon became jealous of my own customers.
Many of them were traveling around the world while I was stuck. I wanted to explore as they were exploring, and do so without a restrictive itinerary.
The only problem was I couldn’t afford it.
Luckily, a friend introduced me to the concept of travel hacking–and I fell in love quickly and dove deep into the hobby.
While there are many varieties, I learned travel hacking’s most lucrative and accessible method is earning credit card points (especially via big sign-up bonuses) and redeeming them for free or heavily-discounted travel. That started my obsession with credit cards, airline and hotel loyalty programs, and luxury travel. I devoured blogs, forums, and instructional videos, scouring the internet for hot deals and insider information that could power a long-term backpacking expedition across Asia.
Soon, I amassed nearly 1 million points from over a dozen credit cards and set off on my own with a carry-on across 17 countries over 15 months. I experienced the highest of highs, literally crossing the world’s highest mountain pass on a 19-day trek in Nepal’s Himalayas, and figuratively as I reveled in Malaysia’s tropical fruit bounty. I felt the lowest of lows, literally going deaf in one ear for a month while getting Scuba-certified in the Philippines and figuratively as I languished alone in Thailand for three weeks while processing what I left behind in Brazil. Ultimately, I had unforgettable experiences and learned a ton about myself and new cultures along the way.
I also experienced the magic of luxury travel, staying in five-star beach resorts and even flying in a $17,000 first class “apartment” on Etihad Airways for only $6.
The length, depth, and variety of my trip couldn’t have been possible without the power of travel hacking.
The more I traveled, the more my friends and family asked for help with their own trips. I was fortunate to be able to help many of them take life-changing trips that they couldn’t afford without travel hacking.
My last stop was the bustling and multi-faceted country of India, where I landed in 2015 and have lived ever since.
After a few years, I met the love of my life Vrinda, who was also an avid traveler.
Together, we visited Egyptian pyramids, Colombian jungles, and much more using credit card points. Then, when it came time to propose, I used my travel hacking skills to use points for an all-inclusive $2,000 per night wellness resort in the Arizona desert frequented by the likes of Oprah.
After she said yes, we got married and planned our honeymoon on points in the Maldives. We had an unforgettable six-night stay at a luxury private island resort in the Indian Ocean, including thrilling seaplane transfers and staying in one of the famous overwater bungalows.
With that experience, I’ve helped many couples plan incredible honeymoons, ranging from safaris in Masai Mara, Kenya to beach holidays in Tulum, Mexico and Zanzibar, Tanzania. I find joy in helping my clients save $10,000-$20,000 on their luxury honeymoons with my honeymoon hacking coaching. Moreover, they value my overall honeymoon recommendations from visiting 35+ countries and living abroad for 13+ years.
Now, I’m energized to make these once-in-a-lifetime celebrations more memorable and radically affordable for my clients through coaching and courses.

-

-
Who should avoid travel hacking?Travel hacking is not recommended if you: Carry balances or pay interest and late fees on your credit cards Spend beyond your means Are planning to apply for a home loan in the next 6 months
-
How do I know I could benefit from your services? You could benefit from our services if: You have a big milestone trip in the next 6-12 months that you want to take with a partner, friends, or family. You already have hundreds of thousands of points and miles but are confused about how to get the most value from them. You have 1-2 credit cards you use regularly but are disappointed by earning a measly 1-2% in cash back.
-
What is your approach to travel hacking?Using 10+ years of travel hacking know-how, we simplify the process for beginners and handhold you at each step. In particular, we help you maximize your earning with lucrative credit card sign-up bonuses that can give you $500-$5,000 each in travel value. For flights and hotels especially, by smartly redeeming these points and miles, you can save 80-100% on the cash rates. Though there are many complexities, instead of stressing you out with over-optimizing, we take an “80/20” approach to spare your time and mindspace. We target easy wins customized to your needs and situation, so you can move closer to your dream trip, rather than stressing over how to pay for it.
-
Are credit cards evil? Some people see credit cards as dangerous, but when used wisely, they can be very beneficial. Credit cards can help build credit for important purposes like getting an apartment lease or applying for a home or business loan with better terms. Rewards credit cards can also unlock exciting travel experiences. The key is understanding the difference between good debt (used for productive purposes) and bad debt (associated with high-interest rates and unproductive spending).
-
Will opening too many credit cards ruin my credit score?Opening a new credit card may cause your credit score to dip by 5-15 points initially. However, after 3-6 months, your score will likely return to its previous level. With responsible use—paying off your balance in full and on time each month—your credit score may rise even higher after 6+ months, especially if you started with a score below 700.
-
Will closing or "churning" credit cards ruin my credit score?Closing credit cards can have a mild to moderate impact on your credit score, depending on your credit history. However, credit cards with annual fees might not be worth keeping after earning the sign-up bonuses. To protect your credit, we help you: Get annual fee waivers or retention bonuses. Downgrade cards to ones with lower or no annual fees, so you can keep these accounts on your credit reports for your benefit.
-
Are credit cards only for rich people? Not at all! Even teens and college students with limited income can benefit from building credit by using credit cards responsibly. There are starter cards designed for new-to-credit customers to help form good financial habits. Banks seek to build lifelong relationships with customers early on. Additionally, with the right approach and patience, even those with low incomes can enjoy life-changing trips through travel hacking.

Why do I need you? I can just read ThePointsGuy, watch YouTube videos, and figure this out on my own.If you're willing to invest hundreds of hours into mastering the intricate and constantly-changing field of miles, points, and credit cards, you certainly can! We’re happy to recommend credible resources to help you if you choose this route. However, be cautious of shady affiliate marketing techniques. Many popular blogs and content creators have lucrative incentives to promote credit card offers through their affiliate links, which might not always be the best options available. These offers can be lower than public or referral links that don’t generate commissions, potentially causing you to miss out on better deals. Additionally, you might be misled into making financial decisions that could harm your credit score and overall finances. If you don't have the time, patience, or interest in navigating this complex field, working with an expert like us can help you access transformational travel experiences at a fraction of the cost, without the headaches and frustrations of figuring it all out on your own.
-
What if I can’t afford to spend enough to meet the minimum spending requirements for sign-up bonuses on rewards cards? Many credit cards offer significant bonuses for spending $2,000-$5,000 over 3-6 months. We can help you find ways to increase your credit card spending without actually spending more money. For example, you can use your card for paying wedding vendors, utility bills, or making reimbursable purchases for work or friends.
-
Will I get a big tax bill for earning credit card rewards? The IRS does not tax rewards earned from credit card sign-up bonuses and regular spending, which is how most of your points will be earned. However, points earned from credit card referral bonuses are considered taxable income. Typically, points are valued at 1 cent each for tax purposes. If you receive referral bonuses totaling more than $600 in a year, you may receive an IRS Form 1099-INT from your bank, which documents this income.

I’m the right fit for travel hacking, but it sounds too good to be true. What’s the catch?Well, travel hacking is one of the finance and travel worlds’ most lucrative opportunities, which is why we love it so much and dedicated ourselves to helping others access its benefits! Nevertheless, even with our support, travel hacking almost never gives instant gratification. To get massive rewards, you need patience and willingness to invest a little effort to apply for new credit cards and use your points in the right ways. This is a big enough barrier to stop everyone from starting. Then again, at the same time, if everyone were to do it, it’d cease to exist!
